Maybe when these pumps first came out 10 years ago, they were the best. Seems like it would make the product more affordable and eliminate clutter. If you have to run a cable to each pump, why not just make one controller that will control 2 (or more) pumps. So am I missing something as to why everyone loves these pumps so much? Are the newer MP40's (ES model) quieter? I think if it wasn't for the added noise I'd be happy with them, but I now find myself thinking I'm better off with the Jebao.Īlso, I don't quite get the wireless feature. Even with the overflow, return pump and skimmer, I can easily pick out the MP40s added sound. I have it turned down very low, and it's not loud, but you can easily hear it from several feet away. One, is the magnets don't hold the dry side up you actually have use the cable and a cable-tie to support the dry side (learned this the hard way). There are two things that have disappointed me with the MP40. The MP40 is also more controllable (which is one reason I wanted it), but I believe I can get the same control with the WP40 by adding a inline dimmer. Obviously the MP40 looks nicer inside the tank, but it adds clutter to the outside, so this may be a wash. I should also mention I'm only using one MP40 right now because I only received one dry side rubber gasket. A week ago I received 2 used MP40w's (not the ES) thinking it would be an upgrade, but I have to say I'm a little disappointed. I bought a Jebao WP40 when I started my tank and have been using it for the past 8 months. With that said, I am trying to decide which one to use, and get some opinions. I think most who have looked at these pumps already know the pro's and cons of each. I know many have compared these pumps, and I'm not trying to start a discussion on which is better and why.
